Hi there! Some of you know me as “The weird music guy,” others as “Every time I open LinkedIn, I see your posts.” Let me introduce myself.

After working more than 20 years in the technology and software industry, I started my own company to fill a major gap I saw everywhere: there’s way too much boring content out there. There are a lot of great companies and personal brands with dull blog posts, bland web copy, and no clue how to build a following. So, I use my diverse talent stack to help fix that problem.

I’m as comfortable at a Command Line Interface as I am in front of a video camera as I am behind a stringed instrument. And that’s my superpower.

Ghostwriting and Content Marketing

After the pandemic hit, I realized that tech companies have a lot of really bad content on their website. The sales team I worked on had basically no collateral, so I had to generate most of it myself. Turns out that was a common problem in the industry. So, I quit my job and went full-time with my business partner and formed Edify Content. We help companies understand and articulate what they do. We start with key message workshops, then move into content strategy, then a content calendar, and then I write a lot of the technical content for our clients. We’ve been going strong since September 2020 and there’s literally unlimited work to do.

Very exciting to have a successful business that gives me the freedom I want!

Make Weird Music

My YouTube channel-slash-online-magazine Make Weird Music has over 20,000 subscribers and more than three million views (as of October 2022). It has a global following and features artists from all over the world. MWM has hosted and sponsored concerts, produced hundreds of hours of content, and is just getting started.

Books

I have three books published by Stairway Press with another in the queue. My first book, Clueless at The Work: Advice from a Corporate Tyrant, was written after three years of my employees and friends begging me to put all my advice into a book. I finally gave in and wrote it in six weeks. It’s sold pretty well and has a 100% rating on Amazon.

My second book, Failure to Fracture: Learning King Crimson’s Impossible Song, chronicles my 22-year study to learn a song that its composer, Robert Fripp, said is “impossible to play.” I had to re-learn how to play guitar and spend a week with Fripp in rural Mexico to really understand. It’s been called a coffee table book, an art book, and a college textbook. It’s 320 pages, weighs three pounds, and is unbelievably beautiful.

My third book, Winning the Job Search: The Hard Truths about Getting Hired, walks through 57 misconceptions job applicants often face on the job search. I’ve hired well over 100 people in my career, fired a few, and have mentored several to see success well beyond my own. This book is coming in 2022 on Stairway Press.

My fourth book, tentatively titled Mental Prisons, is a collection of stories, quotes, and journaling prompts to help readers see how they may be imprisoning themselves with their own thoughts.

Technology Leadership

I was a key leader that helped position InfoArmor (now Allstate Identity Protection) for a $525M acquisition by Allstate in 2018. Post-acquisition, I helped bring the Allstate Digital Footprint to market while scaling our tech department from 15 people to 100 in just a few months. Before that, I ran the technology side of a custom software agency, selling and leading six-figure projects for Fortune 500 companies. I also significantly improved productivity while reducing headcount. That’s the power of building high performance teams.

I’ve managed teams all over the world, overseen multi-million-dollar budgets, led huge IT projects with global scale, and a partridge in a pear tree.
